A Lovers’ Garden
For love is a flower that grows in any soil
Well then,
let my soil be healthy and pure. Fertile to the touch and giving to the seed.
Let it blossom from the roots, spread as veins and become fruitful.
It will be the loveliest flower, our flower. Not daisy, nor rose could match its beauty.
The song of songs sings, my beloved is mine and I am his.
Then be my beloved, my flower, my star. My song, heart, my little king.
Let the kindness of your soul be the sunlight to our garden
as my bitterness is the rain.
We shall have the most glorious of rainbows.
We shall rule our garden with sweetness
while our friends dance to the songs we all can only hear.
Because when you’re in love it doesn’t matter the song, nor the type of flower,
nay it only matters if your hearts are true.
And if they are your soil will be the best any
and all have seen and your garden shall be strong and happy.
No apples shall be seen in this garden
for apples will be the downfall with their bumps and bruises.
Just one could corrupt a garden such as this, so young and innocent.
Instead it grows pomegranates for Persephone shall bless us
even if Aphrodite doesn’t.
Oh beloved,
my beloved, our garden
will be ripe and picked but we will forever stay.
The squirrels and the foxes will pick at it
but the dances of our friends shall spook them away because
if one thing is eternal I hope it’s us.
Forever is a song I sing myself to sleep to and hope that you do the same.
You have my heart and I yours
and we put them in our backpacks and leave this garden
we will still have each other.
No Adam and Lilith we will have.
Stay sweet, my dear, stay kind,
because our flowers and trees will grow old such as we
but our soul will still glow of the youth we once knew.
Keep my heart close and I will do the same.
I bless you with these kisses and sing a safety prayer.
Sail quickly my love be home at our garden by midnight,
when our hearts are full and dizzy.
Goodnight my prince
so I can have a whole 'nother day thinking of you.
Filled with you.
Drenched in you.
